This post has two topics. First, the photo of our neighbor’s free-ranging hen. Each morning she climbs the steps to the porch and looks in the window. I think she would like to get at the autumn crocus growing inside, in a pot, but maybe she just likes to look at her reflection in the glass.
My poem, Still Life With Vegetables is now online, in the Elohi Gadugi Journal:
Not a tradition. Yet. Or is it
a one-time shot where initial conditions of dirt
(a continuous factor)
and H — 2 — O from the sky combine to produce
magnificent roots . . .
. . . Update: The links I had to Elohi Gadugi Journal broke and I have deleted them from my web site. Still Life With Vegetables also appears in my chapbook Unbound: Alaska Poems (out of print). ~Katie
