Today (April 19) the daffodil at the base of the Ponderosa pine opened.

And indeed, hyacinths smell just like I remember, sweet with rank undertones. A scent bold enough to infuse a room, if forced indoors. Outside, though, to smell the hyacinth you must get down on its level.
