Snow-packed garden after a long winter

Anchorage, Alaska made national news April 7 when one more snowstorm broke the sixty-year snowfall record. My sister’s garden is under all that snow and she has the spring gardening bug. She says:

“It’s officially spring and I’m on a quest to find dirt. Wish me luck!!

It took several days just to dig to the back gate, which of course opens inwards. Then I had to dig out the wheelbarrow. I left it strategically tipped against the fence for the winter. Ooops! It took a lot of digging and a kettle of boiling water to free it.

New blue wellingtons

My new blue ‘wellies’ are perfect for the project.”
